Lent 2017

Lent is coming up, and I’m looking forward to a 40 day break from Facebook because ten free minutes keep turning into an hour of scrolling that I wish I had spent somewhere else 🙂

Even more so than that, though, I’m looking forward to Lent because I’m looking for an excuse to focus my energies on connecting with God and with others, of taking time to pray and read and listen to my heart because it is all too easy to get caught up in the rush of life.

I reread this post from Sarah Bessey about Lent last year, and I have some resources lined up that I’m planning to use, but my greatest hope for Lent 2017 is that I build a habit of spending my time on the things that I value. I would rather craft a blog post or an email to a friend than read 44 hilarious memes. I’ve got a handful of books on the go that I want to soak in and some emotional heavy lifting that I’ve been putting off because…. it’s hard.

Maybe this will be me over the next 40+ days, and maybe it will yield some bloggable insights 🙂

What are you hoping about for Lent this year?
